I’m always amazed at how the Twilight Concert Series on the Santa Monica Pier keeps getting better. It is theeee best way to spend a Summer night in Southern California with a group of friends and family. I went to the first one around five years ago to see Patti Smith and have been going ever since. There is something pretty magical about drinking a beer under the stars above the beach and ocean while your nostalgia senses tingle from the spectacle of roller coasters lighting up behind you as watch great music and catch wafts of sea and churros. It’s like getting to be 14 for about two hours, minus all the teen angst. We got a chance to go as a group with design and marketing to see yunamusic this past Thursday. If you haven’t heard this Malaysian songstress’ idiosyncratic blend of neo-soul, pop, and indie you should go give her a listen (https://soundcloud.com/yuna-music)! We got to play ping-pong, watch the native Santa Monicans play volleyball and then take in the awesome vibes of Yuna, her band, and her ethereal wardrobe. Her impeccable fashion sense, that blends street style with a spiritual dimension like a sufi mystic from brooklyn, is part of the allure of Yuna and she came correct as evidenced above. If you get a chance to go the next two months we highly recommend it and hopefully we’ll see you there!
